Join our Thunderclap for #PussyRiot

Hi there – Thank you for downloading Catechism: Poems for Pussy Riot. We hope you are enjoying the eclectic mix of poetry the anthology offers.

As you will be aware, the appeal hearing for the three convicted members of the band was finally heard on 10th October. Yekaterina Samutsevich was released on probation but the sentences for Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina were upheld, and it is likely they will be transferred to a remote prison colony soon.

We are currently working on getting all the poems translated into Russian, for delivery to all three women. Some of the poets will also be organising readings from the book at events local to where they live. Our website, Twitter and Facebook streams will carry details of these events when the details are finalised.

We want to encourage more people to download and read Catechism, and spread the word about this gross injustice. We are experimenting with Thunderclap, a new online tool which sends out messages via social media. We have no idea if it will work but there is no harm in trying! Will you join our Thunderclap by pledging to send a message via your social networks? We need 100 participants to make it work.

With best wishes,
